Standard 1
I. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
Reflection: This standard is asking teachers to look for new ways to promote student learning. Gone are the days of opening up the textbook to the next page and droning on about what it says. The future is now. Lets use what we have available to us as teachers to foster an environment of creativity and innovation. Students should be engaged in current events and real world problems through the use of technology. Students should also be able to collaborate in order to solve problems. Many of the projects we built could represent this standard. The collaboration aspect can be represented by the Google Documents. We helped each other with a presentation that built upon everyone's work. The webpage could also be used for students to innovate and collaborate. Included on the website assignments page was a discussion board where students could answer class discussion questions and bounce ideas off of each other.

Future Learning Goal: I plan on using this upcoming school year to allow my students to be more creative. This past year, they were stuck writing the same tired research papers. This year, I want them to branch out and use technology to be creative.
